Week in Rewind: July 29

We had a busy Memorial Day weekend. Spent most of it at home, but the days went so fast. The little guy was the first in the pool. Despite frigid conditions, he jumped right in. I have no idea how kids can tolerate cold water. Mommy, not so much.

We introduced the little guy to toasting marshmallows. See Mr. Boy Scout. Let's just say we struggled getting the fire going...but baby, we eventually nailed it. And the marshmallows weren't too bad as well. Next up, the intro of S'mores...rocking his world

Then there was putt putt and the driving range. Someone loves to hit things. And let's just say putt putt is done at warp speed.  But the boy has some game

But the big news is....wait, for it, the little guy rode his bike without training wheels...and nailed it. He jumped right on and started off, no fear.  Those balance bikes work wonders.  I'm pretty sure that I wasn't riding a bike before the age of five. In fact, I vaguely remember riding my pink bike around the pool..only to fall in the deep end. With the bike on the bottom, my dad upset, I was told not to ride circles around the pool. But that did not deter me, no, no my friends, instead I rode circles around the house, grooving a dirt path...and resulting in a very upset daddy. On my behalf, I was told not to ride around the pool....let's just hope the role's are not reversed with the little guy.

And finally, Memorial Day is about people who served. And this handsome lad, served his country well. I never saw someone beam so much when he was gifted with another flight in his training plane. Pretty awesome to watch.  We miss Great Grandpop..but something tells me he's smiling down from heaven.

Week in Rewind: May 22

This week, the little guy took in his first baseball game. It started well enough.  Blue skies, perfect temperature, dollar dogs.  The little guy wasn't interested in all of that...he was in it for the water ice.  This little treat is quickly becoming his favorite. And when he saw it at the park, he wanted it.  Which made taking pictures a little difficult.

Once we settled in for the game, someone had a ton of questions. They ranged from where is first base to look at the big tv screen.  Oh yes, the little guy has rock star written all over him.  The only little glip was the hour rain delayed...which seemed so much longer. Luckily, we headed for cover before the masses and had a nice little place close to home plate.

Speaking of baseball, we had our last tball game on Wednesday. We're going to miss that team. Great kids and parents. As for the little guy, he nailed the ball twice with two big swings. It's amazing how far he has come.  He now can throw, hit and somewhat field.  And most importantly, he has love for the game.  When we received his trophy, there was a huge smile. He couldn't wait to bring it to school to show everyone. Makes a mama proud.

Week in Rewind: May 15

Last weekend, we headed over to Great Grandmom's for Mothers Day.  It was a beautiful day.

And she looks simply amazing. Four weeks removed from knee surgery and moving around better than most 40 years old. Now, that's my kind of gal.  I often tell my hubby how lucky he is to have her  in his life. (Let's be honest, we're all lucky). But as a grandchild that lost her grandparents much too young, I know how precious it is to have her.  To a beautiful lady, inside and out.

Now the boys on the other hand. They wore their mommies out. Running, jumping, screaming in delight. Can you tell which one was the ring leader...you got it, the little guy. I'm noticing more and more that he loves to make others laugh. He gets this cute smile and raised eye brow, the boy is becoming quiet the ham.

Yesterday, while the little guy was getting out of the shower, it dawned on me he's got some serious leg and upper back muscles. No wonder he's strong as an ox. To be honest, there were clues. Like the time when he was two, he picked up a heavy box and moved it like it was nothing.  Or how about the ability to open the baby gate with his big mitts.  Ladies, this boy is solid.

Funny facts:

Mommy, I love your hair color. (Me: thank you). It doesn't matter who has the nicest hair (wait, what)

Daddy: you can only bring 1 toy to school.  But daddy (quickly grabbing of multiple toys), I'm only bringing this one. (The others are hidden in my pants)

Did you drink the remainder of the Keifer?  No (with a total Keifer mustache)

And my favorite. I told the kids at school, I was having a pool party. But no girls. (I'll have to remember that one when he turns 16)

Happy Mother's Day

To all of the amazing strong loving mothers in my life.  Happy Mother's Day. Hope you have the type of day where you roll on your back in pure bliss...and just don't care!
I started mine early with a 3am potty break for Trojan. Not wanting to wake anyone up, Trojan and I snuggled on the sofa. When I woke several hours later, Bella was on my leg, Trojan by my side and the little guy was on the other end. That was quickly followed by waffles from daddy and the little guy and the arrival of Miss Mattie. I am loved

Week in Rewind: May 8

This week, we went to a friend's birthday party at Bounce U.  And bounce they did, from one contraption to another.  You want kids wound up...throw a bounce party

And the little guy discovered air hockey...which he loved.  He played against everyone, big and small

He loved everything so much...that he wants his birthday party at one of those places.  This year, for the first time, somebody wants his buddies at his party.  So, it looks like daddy and mommy have some planning to do. And yes, I've already told daddy that he's helping.

And now on to some facts.

Somebody really loves the song, Animal, by Adam Levine.  Let's just say he gets his Jiggy on it and dances around everywhere.

When I hid a toy because someone was exhibiting less than stellar behavior.  He asked did you check the attic?  Really, I had no idea you knew we had an attic.

Watering the potted plants, he simply said "boy those flowers are thirsty"

And while looking at the moon, he started rattling off different planets

Cue the music, mistro

Baby, I'm preying on you tonight
Hunt you down eat alive
Just like Animals, Animals, Like Animals

Week in Rewind: April 25

Whew, this week was a fast and furious one.  Mommy was down in Baltimore when the riots exploded. We left early on Tuesday to head home. Two riots in a lifetime are more than enough. With that said, it always amazes the worst and best that comes out of those things. With all the destruction, it was pretty neat to see the community rally the next day.  And who will ever forget the momma who went postal on her son for throwing rocks at police.  She repeatly yelled "really" at him. In other words, I didn't raise you that way. Enough said

Meanwhile back at the farm....

the little guy celebrated the school's spring festival. Lots and lots of jumping.  Maybe I'm raising a kangaroo.

Daddy placed 3rd in the Riverwinds Bike/Run. And yes, it was freezing that day. And no, mommy didn't do because still fighting my shin bruise...6 weeks and counting...who knew banging your shin on the bed could do so much damage.

The little guy had his kindergarten testing.  One look on his face and you could see the apprehension. But as always, once there..he stole the show. After his testing, he proudly burst through the doors and said, mommy, I counted to 20...to which, the entire room of parents clapped...but the best part was the ride home.  I asked how he did...his response was priceless. "They told me I did great. And (wait for it) ......at every station I told them hello in French."   Interesting.  Not Korean?  Not English?  French, really!!!  And where you might ask did he hear the French word for hello....the Princess Holli cartoon of course.  Which, I must admit, is a bit concerning because the characters speak with an English accent.   Imagine this, first day of school. Korean boy, English accent, saying Bonjour. We're going to rock that teachers world.
