Week in rewind: Happy Easter

This weekend, the inlaws came from Ohio to celebrate Easter.  It was an action packed weekend that included tball practice, plenty of basketball, Whoopie pies, Easter services and lunch. In other words, a whirlwind of activity. And we loved ever moment of it. 

Week in Rewind: Mar 18

Happy Birthday to Uncle Dick. The little guy is so lucky to have you in his life.  He's always been the little guy's buddy. Thanks for being such an amazing example of goodness for the family. We love you

So on Saturday morning, mommy woke early to get a swim in before a busy day. The little guy, ever game, chose to go with me.  So, here we are at 6:30 jumping in the pool...daddy patiently watching from the side.  And lo and behold, he captured one of the first complete dives by the little guy. See those big feet moments before hitting the water, holler.  

This week the little guy also earned his second big boy belt. He's officially an orange belt. Watch out world!   

Week in Rewind: March 10

Last weekend we celebrated the big threes birthdays: Great Grandmom, Pop Pop and Daddy.  We started the day with bowling. Someone is getting quiet good at throwing that ball down the alley. Afterward, we headed back to Pop Pop's for dinner and cake. The little guy is lucky to have all three in his life. Here's to many more of those special birthdays.

This week, the little guy continued his quest for karate nirvana. He tested for his orange belt and will find out next week whether he gets it. He's really come along way. And I'm getting pretty impressed with how high he can now kick. Watch out daddy

We also found out his new tball team. Practice starts in two weeks and the little guy is ready. And by ready, I mean he bought a brand new neon green bat.

Spring is in the air. The last two days have been 80 and you can sense the season's revival. Almost shorts time ladies

Week in Rewind: Feb 26

Happy Birthday Daddy.

The little guy is very lucky to have this guy in his life.  It's fun to watch them interact. From the karate wrestles to the cute conversational exchanges, life is happier with him in our lives.

Week in rewind: Feb 19

It was a quick week. Last weekend, we went to a school friend's birthday party. She turned 6.  It's amazing to think that the little guy does all that he does and is still one of the youngest in his class. Pretty impressive.

We also started prep for baseball. The little guy got a bigger bat. And we spent the weekend trying to learn how to catch with a glove.  Tricky business, no. After multiple attempts, we backed it down to catching just with his left hand. Eventually, we'll get the glove back on.

In a few weeks, he also be testing for his second belt. I long watching his progress and how far he has come indeed.

This week we also worked on a poster for school. The theme was kindness matters. The little guy did all of the drawings. And we thought together of different ways to be kind:  sharing, caring, making others happy.

Week in Rewind: Feb 12

With Valentine's Dat arriving this weekend, I thought it would be fun to look back on the many loves of my life.  Definitely been blessed with great family and friends....

The hubby and little guy: two boys who make my life special.  To daddy who has been my rock through this journey of life.  We've built a pretty amazing life together. Fun trips. Special memories. Lots of love. And most importantly, we've conquered the terrible twos, threes and fours--and somehow managed to stay sane!  Let's face it, poop for twizzlers was by far our most brilliant idea...EVER.

To the little guy, my heart and soul.  Love watching you grow. You are so smart, caring and goofy. See exhibit below. It snowed this week. Daddy worked from home and volunteered to take the little guy to the bus stop. Normal activity indeed, but listening to the two interact was priceless.

Daddy: it's time to go.
Little guy: completely ignoring instructions.
Daddy: it's time to go.
Little guy: but daddy it's snowing out, mommy drives me out when snowing.
Daddy: grab your umbrella and let's go (now as any mommy will tell you, a five year and umbrella usually don't work well together...but out they went.)

Mommy wached as the little guy trounced through the yard while daddy took the long sidewalk way. As they approached the bus stop, it happened. The little guy suddenly threw the open umbrella in the air--which took off with the wind.  Daddy chased it but not before it crashed to the ground. This resulted in said apprehension of the umbrella and a daddy who came home to say, no more umbrellas.

Caring--he taught daddy a valuable lesson.
Goofy-no other kids threw umbrellas.

To my girls, the saying goes man's best friend. I thank you for the unconditional love. Always happy reception. And long pitter pattering walks.  My baby girl has a special place in my heart.

Finally, this week, we went to buy shoes for the little guy. That's when mommy noticed that his foot is almost as big as mommy's.  You  know what they say, big feet....big heart.

Week in Rewind: Feb 5

Pretty quiet week for us. Mommy went down to Baltimore for work. Somehow the boys survived two days without me.  But someone was super excited that mommy was home. There were lots of hugs and I love yous. Ladies, a boy with a golden heart.

Last weekend, we met up with a special cousin.  He's starting a new life in Boston and was staying over night at Pop Pop and Mom Mom's on his way north. We're glad we got to spend some time with him.  And we're wishing him all the best on this new adventure. If there is one thing, I want the little guy to learn....embrace adventure.  Yeah it's tough breaking out. Money is tight. You miss friends and family. But some of the best times in life are when you are living on that ledge. 

Also happy to report that someone did awesome with his report card. It's amazing how far he has come in 5 months.  Last night, he wrote out all numbers to 100. Pretty impressive considering my biggest worry in kindergarten was chocolate or strawberry milk
