Week in Rewind: Mar 23

Fast week in this household. The little guy continued his quest in soccer. And was doing great, until he saw his friend.  That's when it went a little sour....the little boy played on another team.  And someone was not happy about it. As in, bawling in the middle of a scrimmage.  Oh boy!  We had a long talk on the way home.  Let's just hope he plays well tonight with his first game...and yes, it will be 30 degrees at game time, which makes for a long, cold hour for the parents.

Speaking of cold....last week, I signed up the little guy for an Easter egg hunt. While doing, I had visions of cute spring clothes, the warm sun upon our heads, and birds chirping. I guess, one out of three ain't bad...because there will be no spring clothes and no sun!

Thank you to Uncle Dale and Aunt Margie for the hubby's birthday gift. But more importantly, someone screamed with joy when he saw the Corvette....and I don't mean a little joy. His words, some day I'm going to drive an ice Corvette...in his mind, cars should be made of ice so that they can drive on ice. I like the thinking...and wonder if it's patented!

And finally, this Sunday we had dinner with the grandparents. And the rebel rousing continued. What are we to do with these two in public!

Week in Rewind: Mar 16

And so it begins....the return of soccer.  Except this time, he's joined the bigger boy league and will get to play games. On what started as a beautiful spring like day--that violently turned into a nasty, freezing cold wind gust--we headed out for his first practice. And I have to say, someone was super excited.  I have to admit, I was super proud. He's one of the youngest on his team, but still did fairly well. Or as he likes to say, mommy I can out run everyone.  Which surprisingly, seemed true. Unfortunately, not always with the ball. But at least, he showed some major heart. As for daddy and I, well, we froze our arses off. And it took a warm bath, hot dinner and big fuzzy socks to recover!  Thank goodness, they just cancelled his first game....because it's snowing...ugh

The little guy also continues his pursuit of knowledge. This week, he dropped on us that he likes to sleepwalk. Interesting, that we've never actually seen him do it.  Which got me to thinking, maybe I could sleepwalk my way right back to the house on those cold soccer practices. Or maybe I could sleepwalk right into spring.

Anyone notice the shoes he's rocking. Yes, bright neon yellow spikes. As I pointed out various options, all dull and uninteresting to the little guy...suddenly, he found these gems. And boy did his eyes light up.   Flair for the dramatic, girls!

Week in Rewind: Mar 9

Last weekend, we went to the acquarium. Someone was super excited, running from one exhibit to the next. It was all we could do to keep up. Mommy's favorites are the penguins...but the little guy was all about the sharks. Cue the theme song to Jaws.  But our favorite comment, "Mommy they really should have dolphins".

Hip, hip, hooray...this week saw the beginnings of spring. Time zone change for lighter nights, robins cruising the park, and warmer temperatures.  60 degrees got us outside. Someone kicked the soccer ball all over the place. And rode his bike. There was the trip  to Dicks to buy his teeball stuff...who knew that you need your own bat and helmet. Let me say the helmet purchase was not easy..choice of a little snug and too loose. We chose the little snug and as you can tell from the picture he refuses to pull it all the way down.  It kind of makes me laugh when I see it, lol

Finally, the little guy had another belt ceremony...and got his black belt in beginner karate.  He now starts big boy karate...where the belts start for real.

Week in Rewind: Mar 1

So, we are longingly looking forward to spring. Freezing cold today. 8 inches yesterday. Mommy still can't hear out of her ear. This winter has been brutal. And just when thought done, it landed another right hook before it's departure. Three more weeks.  Three more weeks. Three more weeks

In the meantime, we celebrated the rat packs birthday this weekend (and I mean rat pack in a fun, swinging style).  It started with bowling. The little guy did pretty well. Amazingly his fngers fit the holes in the ball. Big hands ladies!  It's fun to watch the little guy play with his cousins.  And pick on Pop Pop.  Happy Birthday to Daddy, Pop Pop, and Great Grandmom

We then headed to dinner. A long wait and ornery kids...oh boy. Someone was insistent that he must have  lemonade...summer time.  Speaking of food, I swear the boy eats non stop. He must be going through a growth spurt. It's scary how much he can eat.

I will say that the little guy was a big help yesterday shoveling the snow. We were out 4 times to do the deck. Each time he worked like a champ. I wonder how long that will last....
