Week in Rewind: Feb 23

It has been quiet the week. Snow over the weekend, resulted in more sledding and our first snow man. It takes quiet some work to build a snowman family...so guess what, this guy is doing it solo. Note to self, never again promise a snow family.

This week, we saw the return of certain grandparents. They graciously offered to watch the little guy, while we went to (gulp) kindergarten orientation.  Wait, what just happened here. When did the little guy get closer to kindergarten. There were signs, yes.  Insatiable eating habits. Writing his name.  A mindblowing will to get his way. Or as he just so proudly said, mommy get me some milk. I need milk to get big...that way I get to make my own decisions, oh boy!

We also celebrated daddy's birthday. Phil N Jim's with the grandparents and cupcakes.  And the little guy taking credit for buying all gifts.   Really cool night with the family

We've all been seriously under the weather...I'm going to call it the Winter 7 Week Curse. Mommy had a return to Urgent Care with a seriously bad ear infection. Ouch!  Daddy is still blowing his nose..and refusing to go back to the doctor.  And the little guy had pimples all over his mouth. We, of course, joked that it was pre-puberty. Mom Mom figured it out--and it was not good news. A highly contagious infection spread with just about everyone that has no immunity. I swear if I catch it...I'm taking the first flight out to Hawaii....all the while singing Let It Go and visions of pristine beaches instead of ice castles

The little guy loves the attention of his grandparents. Last weekend, they came over to see the little guy and go out to dinner. What happened next, can only be described as anarchy!  No, seriously, this is what happens when you put two silly gooses together in public....

Week in Rewind: Feb 16

Lots of activities this week...

To start, our awesome Korean tutor was nice enough to bring down some yummy rice cakes to help celebrate Korean New Year. It took some convincing to try them...but once he did, he liked. The little guy is lucky to have such a sweet, dedicated tutor, who patiently runs around with him...all the while teaching Korean.

And the little guy has really been working on his English by writing numbers and letters.  Scary to think that he could start Kindergarten next year. We'll see how he tests and then make the decision.  Where did the time go?  And when did he become my self sufficient 4 1/2 year old!

Polar Vortex, be gone. We've been a deep freeze all week. And accumulating snow finally arrived the first time this winter. Someone was super happy.  So out we went with sleds in hand. I must admit, not a big cold weather fan, but snow does bring out the kid in you, if you let it. We must have sled down that hill a thousand times...

This week, we also had the lesson that some words have multiple meanings when said different ways...trying explaining that one to a very inquisitive little buy.  "That slam dunk was sick!"  Mommy, is he not feeling well???  Thank goodness, we haven't gotten to some of the harder ones like ass, bird and boob!

Our blackbirds have arrived...one sign that spring can't be far behind!

Week in Rewind: Feb 13

Ladies listen up, someone is wishing you a very Happy Valentines Day. Part super hero--part super suave gentleman---all heart.

As he painfully wrote out Each and Every Valentine Card (24, I counted), it suddenly dawned on me, the boy is all about his buds and has little interest in the girls...or as he likes to say "girls are gross".  Now mind you, when we go to leave....a group of girls literally wait in line to hug him.  The boy clearly plays hard to get...

And he really wanted his tool box to be his Valentine box.  Clearly, another attempt to impress. Girls, look what I can do with this hammer.  Wait, I'll grab my tool belt.  And no, he isn't one of those "gross" handy men who should never bend over.  This little guy is all about style...mommy, can you hand me the hair gel.

And ladies, there is a sensitive side.  Such as when out of the blue, he says "mommy, I love you"....or "daddy, needs to be more of a gentleman and leave the lights on for us".  And let's not forget, he's trained to put the toilet seat down....a big plus ladies.

So Chickaroos be warned. A special little boy is wishing you all a Happy Valentine's Day....and maybe someday....in the far future, girls won't be "gross".

Week in Rewind: Feb 2

So,we've been stuck in the dreaded cold that refuses to leave. The little guy started us off with a nasty cough that has been ongoing for two weeks. Mommy fought like crazy, but finally succumbed to a severe sinus infection.  It's been that type of week

But we still had some highlights.  The little guy, knowing mommy didn't feel well, colored a multiple colored fish for me. I'm taking it that his hat served as artistic inspiration.  I will admit that the picture is really good. The hat and PJs not so much.

He also informed us that he wants to be one of the following when he grows up:  ninja (hence renewed passion for karate), race car driver (he loves Corvettes, wonder where he got that from), grocery stocker (the boy knows his way around food).  When I pointed out that, while admirable a grocery stocker, doesn't make much money.  You could almost see the wheels turning.  But mommy, do they drive shiny, red cars?  A man with priorities...food and cars

Finally, good old Teddy. He's the little guy's first and most favorite bear. Yes, he's seen better days. Yes, he sometimes gets overlooked for the sexier, younger batman bear...but no, he hasn't lost that special place in a young boy's heart
